Eddington Community Orchestra

Sundays 15:00 to 16:30| Storey's Field Centre| free

Welcome to the Eddington Community Orchestra (ECO), where music connects generations, fosters creativity, and brings our vibrant community together. The ECO is a welcoming and relaxed environment for musicians of all ages and abilities to come together, share their love of music, and grow as performers.

About the Orchestra

Conceived by a nine-year-old Eddington resident and formed in the autumn of 2024, the ECO began with 20 musicians ranging in age from 8 to 74. We practice most Sundays during term time from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Storey’s Field Centre, Eddington. Under the passionate direction of Laurie Friday, our Music Director, we explore a wide variety of music, culminating in community concerts that delight performers and audiences alike.

Membership is open to musicians who have a basic grasp of their instrument (roughly equivalent to Grade 2 or above). Whether you’re returning to music after a break or eager to join a friendly community orchestra, we’d love to have you with us!

“Thank you so much for setting up the Eddington Community Orchestra. I’ve really enjoyed being a part of it. even if only for one term. It’s been a great opportunity for me to play the violin again after so many years, and it’s given me more of a purpose with my weekends! I’m very thankful for the warm and welcoming nature of the Orchestra, which has been facilitated by all of you. I’d love to join a rehearsal or two when I’m back in Cambridge and am sure that the Orchestra will continue to thrive.”

Friends of ECO — Keep your orchestra going

In just over a year, ECO has become a big part of our community. We rehearse weekly at Storey’s Field Centre. Rehearsals and concerts are free of charge.

Now we’re looking to make it sustainable.

Friends of ECO is £50 a year.

You get reserved seating at concerts, invitations to small events, and a mention in programmes (if you’d like).

More importantly, your support covers hall hire and keeps ECO open to everyone.

Everyone including Laurie our music director volunteers their time freely. Friends of ECO helps keep it that way.

We’re looking for 50 Friends.
